Every production facility has its own requirements for a manufacturing execution system. That is why we are expanding top MES with individual functions and processes as part of customer projects. This spotlight is a good example of how such customer-specific requirements can be implemented with top MES.
PDF files such as technical drawings, work instructions or other documents should not only be available as static attachments in the SAP production order, but should also be able to be edited there directly – without the detour of downloading, opening in external programs and uploading again.
A feature has been implemented directly within the top MES operator UI that allows PDF documents associated with an SAP production order to be not only opened but also edited interactively. Operators can add notes, highlight text, or draw annotations directly into the document without having to leave SAP or use external applications. When saved, no new document is created; instead, the existing PDF for the production order is updated and expanded to include the added information.
