The newly released top MES user case in the SAP special issue of Digital Manufacturing Magazine shows how DMG MORI AG is modernizing its shop floor with our manufacturing execution solution and consistently implementing digital manufacturing in the machine tool industry with SAP.
As the world’s leading machine tool manufacturer, DMG MORI AG faces a unique challenge: Its plants manufacture a wide variety of products—ranging from mechanical series production to highly customized single-machine assembly. This is exactly where top MES comes in, creating a common digital platform for different production environments.

At the Seebach and Bielefeld reference sites, DMG MORI implemented top MES as a central integration and information platform—seamlessly integrated with SAP S/4HANA. Integrated web apps, intuitive UI navigation, and digital traceability down to the component level ensure that operators always know which steps and components are required for the machine they are currently working on.
Automatic validity checks catch typical errors right on the production line before they carry over into logistics, quality control, or financial management. Production dashboards featuring DMG MORI’s corporate design provide a comprehensive overview of the entire manufacturing process at a glance—for both shop floor workers and management, who can make informed decisions based on consistent, real-time data.
Following the successful launch in Seebach and Bielefeld, five plants are already using top MES, with two more set to follow in 2026. By 2027, approximately 2,000 employees are expected to be using the system—and in the medium term, DMG MORI plans to roll it out to all 18 of the Group’s production plants.
