Every manufacturing operation is different—and so are the requirements for the manufacturing execution system used. That is why, as part of customer projects, we develop custom extensions for top MES. This spotlight feature, “Photo Documentation in SAP,” presents one such customer-specific implementation.
Production situations such as quality deviations, assembly statuses or completed work steps can often be documented better and more comprehensibly with photos than with text-only descriptions.
The customer therefore wanted images to be taken directly in production and automatically assigned to the appropriate production order in SAP.
As part of the project, a top MES app was developed for use on mobile devices, which integrates camera functions and thus enables photo documentation in SAP.
The app can be used to create images for the SAP production order directly or, alternatively, to upload existing images from the gallery or file directories. They are automatically stored and archived for the production order in SAP.
