St. Nicholas Children's Hospice in Bad Grönenbach
Traditionally, top flow supports a social project before Christmas.
This year, we are supporting the St. Nikolaus children’s hospice in Bad Grönenbach. The facility in the Allgäu region supports families with terminally ill and life-shortening children and young people during the illness, dying and grieving phases. Security, community and joy are just as much a part of the children’s hospice as grief and pain.
Parents and, above all, siblings should also feel that they are in good hands. The brothers and sisters of the patients in particular suffer from anxiety and insecurity as well as a lack of attention due to the situation.
For this reason, the “Siblings” project was initiated. It should not only lead to a harmonious stay, but also give the siblings new strength and perspectives through experiential education. With work in the studio, excursions, experiential education activities, discussion groups and weekend activities, for example, the children are given many opportunities to express their feelings in order to cope with this phase of their lives.
They should learn that every member of a group has certain skills and can therefore make a difference. Among other things, it is about promoting their self-assessment and self-confidence and dealing with failure in the right way. In the end, they should be strengthened and have mastered this difficult situation as mature and self-confident young people.
Unfortunately, the 16 children’s hospices currently operating in Germany are not funded to cover their costs. Therefore, the only children’s hospice in Bavaria is also permanently dependent on donations – top flow is happy to provide support here.
