Christmas donation 2022: Help for children in need from Ulm and the surrounding area
“There are no great discoveries and progress as long as there is still an unhappy child on earth.” These words by Albert Einstein have motivated the association “Ulms kleine Spatzen e.V.” for 10 years to help children from Ulm and the surrounding area who find themselves in difficult financial or emotional situations.
In addition to supporting institutions such as the children’s hospital, the children’s and youth hospice and the child protection association, the Spatzen also support many projects for children in the region. Experiencing beautiful moments, doing sports or going on excursions with the “Spatzenbus”: here, children find distraction and a little break from stressful life circumstances.
The association also provides targeted support for individual children or young people: If there is a lack of money for essentials, e.g. sportswear, or if certain therapies are not covered by health insurance, Ulm’s little sparrows offer their help.
Ulms kleine Spatzen e.V. wants to create good prospects and a better quality of life for all children and young people – because every child deserves to be happy.
BuKi family emergency aid for the poorest in the initiative
The private BuKi initiative from Bad Saulgau has been supporting local Roma families in the Romanian town of Cidreag, who live there on the margins of society in extremely difficult conditions, since 2008. Slum-like huts – some of which have no water or electricity – offer little protection from the cold and there is great hardship, especially in winter, as farming offers neither work nor income during this time.
The situation is particularly difficult for people who, for various reasons, are not mobile and cannot accept work in more distant places. This is often the case for single mothers or families with sick or elderly people who need to be cared for. In addition, the population in Romania is also suffering from the rising cost of living and food prices.
BuKi Family Emergency Aid supports around 10 of these needy families with food and firewood – thus alleviating the greatest need.
We are convinced that no child or adult in Europe should live in such adverse circumstances. That is why we support the work of BuKi, who have already achieved extraordinary things in Cidreag.
